I think it's worth visiting. Not sure 1 day is enough given the travel time to get there & back. > Because I'm from Italy, my question is: How can I reach KSC from > Tampa or from Miami? Someone can suggest me bus/train/flight? > How far is KSC from Tampa/Miami? (for people coming from Italy, > about 14 hours of flight, it seems very near :)) I'd recommend a rental car. We flew into Orlando in early June this year. We drove to Tampa & back. Alamo had a great per-week rate for the rental car (alamo.com). We've driven from Orlando to Kennedy Space Center in past trips. Given on-ground time needed for commercial air travel (security checks, etc), it's almost certainly faster to drive. There may be train service but I've never checked into it. My suspicion is that a car is the only practical mode of travel. Tampa to Orlando is about 1-1/2 hours driving along Interstate 4 freeway. Travel time varies depending on traffic, time of day, & end points (both cities are decent size). Orlando to Titusville (Kennedy Space Center & Cape Canaveral Air Force Station) is via primarily via highway 528 with 407(?) at the Titusville end. Roads to KSC are well marked. Trip from Orlando to Titusville is about an hour, maybe a little more. So Tampa to Titusville is about 2-1/2 to 3 hours each way. If you have any extra time around Tampa, there's also the Sunshine Skyway Bridge from Tampa to Saint Petersburg (southwest and adjacent to Tampa). In Saint Petersburg, there's the Salvador Dali Museum, Museum Of Fine Art, and Haslam's Bookstore (huge, new & used). In Tampa is Busch Gardens (theme park with lots of roller coasters). Off Interstate 4, between Tampa & Orlando, are the EAA Sun'N Fun aircraft museum in Lakeland and the Fantasy Of Flight air museum in Polk City. In Orlando (actually just west, in Lake Buena Vista) is Disneyworld. Through out Florida are Sonny's BBQ restaurants (a chain). I think they are quite good. If you're pressed for time, you can stop for a sandwich to go and eat it on the road or while waiting in an airport. Contact me privately if you'd like more details about anything. I don't know about travel from Miami to KSC. Lee Jones -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
