Hi All, The speed of the alternator can be varied by adjusting the pitch of the blades. Bring the speed of the alternator up to sync frequency with no load on the alternator. Switch the alternator to the grid The speed of the alternator will change very little from this point. Change the blade pitch to make it look like the alternator runs faster. This will not change the speed of the alternator because it is locked to the grid. It will however increase the output of the alternator. Bring output up to 85 or 90% output rating. Collect the paycheck The same thing happens at all power plants.
