Yes, central heating is almost always done the same way here, but as I said I understand that sometimes on the Continent there is what I think is called a pumped "secondary circuit" with the hot taps on it. I don't think it's ever done here. It makes most sense in large single-storey buildings, because the pipe-run distance from one side of the house to the other can be very large, so the waiting time and the waste of water are large too.
