I do have the Explorer 16 and the ICD2. Yes you need the ICD2 to program the PIC24 and dsPic. The doc. states that you can use the bootloader to program the MCU..... Unfortunately THAT part is not working*Argh..*. You can use an ICD2 to program the PIC18 for USB functionality.... But still NO clear sight in getting it to work.... Last time I checked the boot loader does not program the PIC24 and dsPic.
