One particular interesting comment is ""The combination of a depressed
stock price,
outsourcing of jobs, an aging of the design population in the U.S. and
a general
malaise toward technology has caused engineers to stay put and hope
that they will
not get laid off."

I kind of really see "an aging of the design population in the US". There are
certainly new young and good engineers coming on board but seems to me
that many electronics designers (especially those know analog electronics)
are into their 40s or 50s.

Still I think this somewhat pessimistic picture is not really true.
The economy is
certainly getting better and people are continuing enjoying life here in US.
