It seems to me that the 2xxx parts are somewhat quite limited in terms of peripheral feature mix. For example, I want to find one small MSP430 with both UART and SPI but it is simply not there. I find that Silicon Labs C8051F33x a better option even though they might be more expensive. Strangely Microchip also seems not offering this kind of small parts. The other problem is that the datasheet is really bad. For example, I am reading the 2xxx family user guide (called x2xx by TI) and I am trying to figure out the conversion speed of the 16bit ADC. The formula given by TI is simply wrong. Then I looked at the other family user guide, they are the same (just copy and paste). http://www-s.ti.com/sc/psheets/slau144b/slau144b.pdf (page 17-6). If you follow the formula, it will give you a negative value. Oh, that is fast! So TI is now investigating this and I am waiting for an answer. Seem it is not so easy so I have waited for four days. I am thinking of moving to Silicon Labs parts even though they are in general more expensive.
