I THINK you are saying.

"My memory tells me that xxx whereas Russell's memory tells him yyy."

So far no amount of people telling me about what they remember will 
remove the memory I have of being shown the feature many (many many) 
years ago. I also have recollections of having tried it out 'just to 
see' but I'm not so sure about the quality of that memory.
