Actual lifetimes can be far in excess of that for polycrystalline cells but at 20 years your implementation has to be spot on or you get failures for secondary reasons. The amorphous silicon cells die far far more quickly than that - a few years to marked light induced degradation. This is the subject of ongoing research.
