> Around here the (limited) rail service has bike racks inside, and > the buses have racks on the front. Convenient! [Ridiculous Thing #1] Auckland buses got rid of the bike/pushchair racks. As the Harbour Bridge is part of the motorway you can't cycle over it and [Ridiculous Thing #2] there's no walkway (unless you're going $100 bungy jumping). The only public transport across the harbour is ferry. But then you'd probably have to bike miles to get where you wanted to on the other side. Especially going from Auckland City to the North Shore, because [Ridiculous Thing #3] there are no trains on the North Shore. Passenger trains have done away with the Guards Van/Card Room/Ping Pong Room (yes, ping pong - the staff on the south-bound train in the morning played table tennis as so many of the passengers were schoolkids with passes they hardly bothered to see if there were any tickets to sell) -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
