Note that two are frost covered and two aren't, for obvious reasons. Pretty impressive stuff. 90+ seconds under power and following a preset course / flight plan is going to be impressive to see. If he keeps this up he'll be able to afford to quit his day job :-) Russell ____________________________ From: "John Carmack" To: Sent: Friday, September 01, 2006 6:32 PM Subject: [AR] Pretty Armadillo flight We had a nice test tonight. Side-by-side video from both cameras: http://media.armadilloaerospace.com/2006_08_31/hover35_dual.wmv Just the one view that looks better: http://media.armadilloaerospace.com/2006_08_31/hover35.mpg A nice still: http://media.armadilloaerospace.com/2006_08_31/flight.jpg You can see that we added the 25kg "payload" as barbell weights right above our landing shocks. Might as well move the CG a bit farther away from the gimbal point... I think we are going to manually trim out the stable tilt, rather than adding another low frequency control loop for propellant balancing. We are going to Oklahoma this weekend for a 90+ second run, I'll do a full update after that. This engine doesn't have quite enough performance for the level 2 prize, but we have another injector that is more than good enough, once we get it to stop melting... Any updates from Masten?
