The main problem with solar power is that no power is generated during the night. That could be offset if other means of generating could shutdown during the day to be fed by the solar plant.. but that isn't workable either because the US power grid is inadequate to carry the load where it is needed. The grid is topped out right now.. just trying to keep California cool during the summer months. That's why hydrogen has its appeal.It might be easier to move hydrogen than to move electricity. Pipelines can be laid easier and faster than high tension lines over the western desert, is my guess. Whatever.
