I walk to the subway station, take the subway, then the a bus.

According to Google Maps, it's about 8.6km or 5.35 miles

It takes just about a half an hour. This is assuming I catch the bus
at the right time - it only comes once every 15 mins.

Since I DO take public transportation, I'll flip the question around.
If I drove to work I'd probably save about 5-10 minutes, however I
wouldn't get to read the paper.
