That would be silly, for me.

Sometimes my job does make up for it, with drives of 1800 miles or so, but
those are not more frequent than once a month, and again public transport
(even flying) isn't applicable.
The back half of the expedition is full of equipment.  Packing and unpacking
that stuff for air travel on each end would cost more than the drive itself.
