So, this has almost come up several times, and I'm curious.  We
have a relatively international community here, and I'd like to
take a survey.

1) How do you commute to work?
2) How far?
3) How long does it take in each direction?
4) If you don't use public transportation, IS there a public
    transportation alternative?  How long would THAT take?

So for me:
1) commute by car, single occupant, 3 days a week. telecommute rest.
2) about 20 miles each direction.
3) I generally drive TO work after the morning rush is over,
    and it takes about 20 to 25 minutes.  Driving home catches
    the end of the evening rush hour, and usually takes 30 to 40.
4) I COULD walk to the train station, take train to lightrail
    station, take lightrail to near work, and walk the remaining
    distance.  This would take about an hour in that direction,
    and somewhat longer to ensure making connections in the
    reverse direction.  It's become less attractive since the
    train station nearest my house was closed, making that initial
    walk close to 2 miles.
