The free version (I assume it's still available) will generate up to 2K code and may give you a sense for how good/bad it is. As I said, like you, I love Turbo Pascal and really wanted to program 18F-series PICs with Mikro Pascal, but, I also wanted the code to work and not require me to wonder why a := b*c sometimes yields different results than a := c*b, depending on the relative values of b and c.
