That is what I hear from others as well. In general C18 and C30 are both quite good. The peripheral libraries have quite some issues. It is said that HiTech PICC18 produces better code than MPLAB C18 in general for PIC18F. But it is said that MPLAB C30 produces better code than dsPICC for PIC24/dsPICs. For PIC16F, HiTech PICC is undoubtedly the best C compiler available.
