Are you really talking about Hi-tech here...?  If so you are just plain wrong. 
It integrates and works fine with MPLAB, ICE2000 etc. once you've installed Hi-Tech's MPLAB
interface stuff. 
You can easily integrate assembler, both as inline or seperate modules. Some of the  assembler
syntax may be slightly different but this is no big deal.
