Some probably would, but I think you're right in that PWM is probably the dominant output for control systems. Either the thing being driven is modulated by PWM directly like a motor or a solenoid, or the PWM is filtered into a analog signal that is used for old fashioned control. > I am not sure but for example for a public key cryptography > they probably need higher accuracy. Higher than what? I think you are responding to comments on floating point, but encryption is done with integers anyway. In any case, you can certainly come up with reasons for needing more than 16 bit accuracy in special cases. However, I think those special case are unusual or even rare in the kind of real world control applications PICs find themselves in. ****************************************************************** Embed Inc, Littleton Massachusetts, (978) 742-9014. #1 PIC consultant in 2004 program year. http://www.embedinc.com/products -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
