the original poster put 95 in his requirements list i didn't think .net was
compatible with 95.

VB 6 (which another poster mentioned) was the last version of VB that
produces standard windows exes (admittedly they need a rather big runtime
support lib and may require some activx controls registering but thats
nothing compared to deploying .net).
