first less space, second less components (no capacitors), third less PCB
hassle (xtal can short top traces), lower price is third (my source for
xtals and resonators is quite cheap anyway).

nice, then I'll try it on the board I am working on now. the
pickit2-clone part seems to be working now (no more "USB device not
recognised").
