There are differences in the peripherals between the F877 and the F877A.
IIRC there are new analogue comparators on some ports that need to be turned
off, and there may also be differences in the configuration fuses. Read the
two data sheets to check.

Also they program differently. Does your programmer correctly handle the
F877A?

I think there may also be a Microchip document that lists the differences
between these two chips.
