Someone mentioned microspheres.  They are so small they look like dust; you
can get different sizes.  

You can buy them easily enough, I've got some here somewhere.  When using
casting resin, they make the piece lighter and a bit cheaper.

Chemicals supply places have them too, I don't know what labs use them for.
