IIRC from the documantary I saw about it, he did the final mix on the plane,
in the toilet, as has already been suggested. In the process of doing the
final mix, he also attached a timer made from a cheap electronic wrist
watch, which meant he could set the bomb up on a short internal flight, and
it exploded on the next leg of the trip after he got off.
