Are magnets feasible ?

The outside knob could be on a spindle (eg a bolt through
a sealed hole). On the underside of the knob is a magnet
which drags a magnet on the inside of the enclosure. This
perhaps closes a knife switch or microswitch for the ground
of each circuit. I'm sure with rare earth magnets and a bit
of Teflon this could work

Now tell me it's a steel box ;-)
