Simplest would probably be any intelligent serial port programmer (i.e.
not JDM) and a USB-to-serial converter. I currently use a Wisp628
through the serial port (no USB converter, although I might use one in
the future) on my Linux box.

There are USB programmers around, but I'm not sure of the state of Linux
drivers.
