It's not per kW, but per kWh - kilowatt hour, the number of kW times the number of hours.  And I wish mine was 5p per kWh - I'm on Economy 
7 and the first 225 during peak hours in a quarter are at 16p each!  After the first 225 it drops to 11p, and off-peak is about 4.2p.  The 
standard tariff is somewhere in between those - perhaps 10p, but certainly not 5!  (If it is that cheap anywhere in Britain I want to know 
where :-)

That's right (except the price is wrong) a 100w bulb running for 10 hours uses 1kWh.
