MocOSX supports "Windows File sharing" and interacts fine with
Samba.  (and IP/LPD printers as well.)  That's what I ended up
doing when I set up an old PC as a "linux peripheral" to my Mac;
like you I had trouble finding "how-to" guides for native Mac
filesystem support.
