Hi, noob here, as part of a PIC project I am working on, I need some movement and shock sensing, but as cheap as possible, so am wondering if anyone has some suggestions. I need two or three levels of detection, for inserting into a tennis racket handle. The first, and possibly extraneous, is slight movement detection, ie., picking up the racket, to bring the PIC out of sleep. A period of inactivity returns it to sleep. Second level is swing detection. Third is shock, from contact with the ball. These two are the main ones I need. The PIC has a few ADCs, so I don't need a digital signal. So, what are some cheap options I can look at? The ADXL320 +/- 5G sensor looks good, but from my searches I can only find supplies in the 1000's. Dimension Engineering make a tasty little pre-buffered board (http://www.dimensionengineering.com/DE-ACCM5G.htm), but $20+ each is a little on the steep side for what I am after. Any other options/suppliers for these type of chips? Would piezo sensors do the job? The "piezo polymer vibration sensor (LDTM-028K)" is sold by Digi-Key etc for $1 - $2, but I have no idea whether this would give me what I need? Any thoughts would be appreciated Yours Sincerely Lee Mulvogue -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
