When I hear that from innocents, I can keep quiet. But when I hear that

This is made up by lazy practicioners trying to give a reason for their
lack of theoretical knowledge. Nothing more. 

Because in theory, theory and practice /always/ are different, more or
less. Some know that -- and how and where -- and some don't. Once you
consider this, there's no joke anymore. That's why this can't really be a
joke once you have lost your innocence :)

(And no, I'm not trying to say that there aren't lazy theoreticians who
lack practical knowledge.)
