I'm making my first foray into RF design. I have a VHF receiver circuit I've come up with. But I'm aware that there is Deep Magic involved with RF layout and I was wondering if anyone here could offer some wisdom on that. My circuit is a 2m (144-148MHz) FM receiver. It uses BF998 MOSFET as the RF amplifier and IF mixer. It has the usual RF filtering and crystal IF filters. An MC3361 provides the second IF, demodulator, etc.. The local oscillator is currently a LMX1501A. Actually I'm worried that the LMX1501A is marked as obsolete. Can anyone suggest something similar which is current? So back to my original point - I'll be laying this out with Eagle and I was wondering if anyone could make any suggestions on what I should do to avoid RF issues. Any wisdom from the brains trust here? Cheers, Zik -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
