I once overheard a guy on a flight to Thailand trying to impress a fellow= passenger about his travels to Thailand. He pronounced "farang" just as it is spelled in many travel books about T= hailand. However the word is pronounced more like Phil long. So I knew he never set foot in Thailand before. I just smiled to myself.
