I doubt that SRAM will go away anytime soon. BSI and ISSI both make 8Mbit and smaller SRAM parts. They are coming out with even lower voltage versions (1.8v) so they are continuing to make "new" SRAM parts, not just maintaining their old lines. SRAM still has a few distinct advantages (relating to performance and ease of integration) over other memory types.
