In EE, some of the fields are not moving that fast. For example, analog electronics engineer do needs a lot of years to get the experience. I will soon go for a training and there are plenty of engineers there with 20+ years of experience in hardware/firmware. This is a big industrial automation company. In this industry, Ethernet is considered quite new. In fact, fieldbus technologies are all quite new.
