You would have to somehow hack the MAC/ENDEC chip on each end to only
send serial data. I don't know if this can be done but it is certainly a
hack that I'd want to avoid.
It sounds like what you want is a serial port. Why not just send the
data through a serial port if you want to avoid TCP/IP?
