You mean the ENC28J60 ethernet MAC/PHY?

Probably not.  SLIP introduces other issues that will make some things more
complicated and obscure others.  Ethernet is a "well known physical layer",
and your PC talks it natively without any fuss.  Setting up a PC for SLIP is
possible but there are things to go wrong and you won't know if the PIC or
PC end isn't working.  With ethernet, you can pretty much rely on the PC end
working correctly.
