I'm not sure about the KicStart kit that comes with the EZ430 (I know it's been neutered to not output assembler source) but the standard free KickStart kit has dozens of example code snippets that covers most all the MSP430 peripherals. They don't vary much between chips, usually only in clocking options so they move easily from chip to chip. You can also download all the TI sample code (or used to be able to) from the MSP430 tools section of TI's website. Also check out the Yahoo Groups MSP430 group. It is very similar to the PICList in that there are some real experts on things MSP430. All of the major 3rd party tool vendors have people that watch and post to that group. I've been actively using MSP430s in new designs for about 3 years now and I have to say it's become my favorite microcontroller family to develop with over the PIC and AVR families. I still use all three, but the MSP430 architecture, peripherals and tools are very very good (and quite affordable too).
