Still I think it won't be as good as a real ICE. As a programmer it also leaves out some features. For example: 1) to go to Hi-Z mode after programming so that program can start to run 2) to control the sequence of target Vdd and Vpp Maybe this is hardware/firmware related limitations. I just tried it with Explorer 16 board dsPIC33 demo program and stepping through the small program proves to be not as fast as I want.
