In the end it failed after 1 and > half years... I am not too sure, my Thomson TV just failed at the last year of the extended 5-year warranty. Considering the added amount I paid which is greatly amplified by the fast deflation in the electronics goods, as well as fast advancement of technology (display, speed, size, battery life, etc). I am glad I have help save the earth of a polluted CRT, I got the TV fixed for free, but no justification for a LCD or Plasma TV for this World Cup too. :-( Maybe warranty shall make for sense when China wage catches up, but there is South America, Africa, Indo-China, etc workers waiting on the sideline.
