By the way, 16F917 is the featured product for the PIC16F. I think it is a nice device and it can replace 16F877A in most cases except that it is a standard flash product (so no bootloader support). In fact, 16F91x is the recommended device for new design than PIC16F87xA if flash update is not required. They have developed a demo board with 16F917 to go with PICkit 2 and I am using the board to test the functionality of PICkit 2 under MPLAB.
