I think it unfortunate that "Principles of Warfare" are not taught to all college freshmen. Perhaps it should even be a high school requisite. War is a game of resource management. It is like all other games except there are no real limits. Real people are killed. Genocide is for real. Atrocities abound. Logical behavior is suspended and rational thought suppressed. It is unlikely that a population can be defeated without first breaking their will to fight. Soldiers become corrupt with power, just like politicians. The Mei Lie massacre, the Bataan death march, and the Nazi Genocide policies are examples of command out of control. There are seldom any good choices in war. It is nearly always a matter of trying to make the better of several bad choices. There does not seem to be any solution to the problem. War has been a fact of life as long as there has been humans on earth. It may have its beginnings in the form of one individual imposing his will on another that escalates into an entire population developing a hatred for another population. I think it would help if we could comprehend the consequences before we get into an all out confrontation. The pawns in war have always been our youth.
