I recommend doing a Google search for "dmx512 pic" to see the rest of the results.  There is a PIC to SX code convertor on SList.com that can make useing PIC projects straightforward.  If nothing else, finding someone who has done something similar with a PIC will often give you a leg up on the pitfalls and problems you'll face doing the same with an SX.
