While the average saleperson isn't a techno guru, they usually have at least one person who can answer the questions of the technically informed well enough. If you were a complete novice you would be worse off. I'm happy that DSe try reasonably hard, given that their target product and audience is not super technical or component oriented. I do think it is sad though to see the components being scaled down. What you really want is a shop with the motto of (I'm told) a UK car parts supplier. "The answer's yes. Now, what's the question?"
