I think Stef is not debugging assembler code but jal code. Inserting a breakpoint into the assembler file created by compiler is not as usefull as understanding where should be the breakpoint into the high level source. That's why the need for a debugging tool incompatible with MPLAB. Vasile allows you to single-step through the > code in the edit window. That's not possible with debugging using a > serial monitor.
