Especially as it seems likely that a dose of VHDL (or verilog or whatever
they use) for that module has been copied between chips on the basis that it
has been debugged on earlier chips. It strikes me that there are possibly
some subtleties in the HLL used that gets caught out by scaling or process
issues that causes bugs to appear in later chips.
