This will also be useful when the device is a few cm away and I use a ribbon cable to come back to the board. But there is a missing part to the story. Some PCB devices (or ribbon cables) end in female sockets. So you need a male-to-male strip of header pins to connect to the model shown in your photo. Or, if you are lucky and your device is SINGLE-row female, you need the male-to-male to connect your device directly to the breadboard (no need to span the middle channel with the device above). Lots of male-male header pins are avaialbe. BUT - one side is very short, intended to be soldered to a PCB. These stubby pins do not grasp into a female socket. I am having a very tough time finding header strips with male pins where BOTH sides are long (0.6 inches). Parallax sells a three-pin model for use with servos-to-breadboard. But I'd like 12-20 pin sizes. Another vendor has a model with stubby on one side and 12 mm (double long) on the other - I ordered some and will try to pound them through the plastic to get 6 mm on each side. I've contacted the header strip vendors on eBay and they say they understand, but don't encounter these very often. I've also contacted Digikey and Jameco but haven't gotten a reply yet. ---------- End of Message ---------- You can view the post on-line at: http://forums.parallax.com/forums/default.aspx?f=7&p=1&m=122309#m122552 Need assistance?
