In a message about hard drive heads the other day, Jinx commented that the the millionth of an inch measurement was a horrible phrase, or word to that effect. How about calling it a micron then? A local paper, (the Australian Financial Review), thinks it is. The article was gushing that car maker Holden CNC machines have an accuracy of 1 micron, 1 millionth of an inch. Australian only been metric for 40 odd years, I guess change is a bit slow...
