In this case, I'm specifically looking for something that will
install on a harddisk for a permanent and somewhat customizable
environment.  I'm not a unix beginner; I've got a less minimalist
debian install on a less minimal system, and I use solaris and
a redhat variation everyday at work (primarily via CLI on xterms.)
I'm just looking for something tiny that will have little impact on
the host system, and spend less time trying to be windows...
