I do have a few concerns. You mention the machine only has Win95 on it? How fast a machine is it? Linux is pretty resource hungry. While CPU is important, memory is MORE important. Personally, to run FC4 I would recommend a minimum of a Pentium4/AMD Athlon XP and at least 512MB of memory. The machine I'm using now is a 2.4GHz Celeron and while fast enough I really wish it had more speed. Memory is king though. I had 512MB and it crawled sometimes. I now put a minimum of 1GB of memory in every Linux machine I use. The machine I'm writing this on has 1.5GB of memory. If you are only planning to run in text mode then please ignore everything I've said! :) > The question is what do I need to install under Linux for the PIC support? > I have a Wisp628 programmer, and know (or am pretty sure) that xwisp2 is > supported under Linux, so guess I will need to install xwisp2. Unfortunately I can't help much on the "doing PIC under Linux stuff" since I still keep a Win2K machine around for that. If I didn't have that machine I would be using Linux running VMWARE to get an emulated version of windows running. While development under Linux certainly is possible, support for the ICD2 is very sparse, and I've been spoiled by how much easier developing with the ICD2 is! :) TTYL -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
