I've managed to scrounge an old desktop computer for my PIC work, and can now let my wife use the laptop. This will work a lot better, except that the old desktop that I was given only has Windows 95 on it, and it is pretty messed up. So I want to install Linux and learn to do all my PIC work with it. I've ordered some installation CD's with Fedora Core 4 and that should be here in a couple of days. The question is what do I need to install under Linux for the PIC support? I have a Wisp628 programmer, and know (or am pretty sure) that xwisp2 is supported under Linux, so guess I will need to install xwisp2. How about the assembler and simulator? I am slowly going through the WinPicProg tutorials, which use the 16F628. All the code is absolute. So guess I do not need a linker. If someone could just point me to a starting place for what to install with regard to an assembler and simulator I can probably take it from there (I hope). It is not that I cannot find plenty of material about Linux and PIC's -- it it just that I am not yet knowledgeable enough to know what to install and what to ignore. :-) Thanks, Bill -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
