In theory PICkit 2 can replace ICD2 in terms of its capabilty. However
we need to write the firmware and host software which supports
other functionalities. Therefore it takes time for PICkit 2 to support more
chips and other potential functions. PICkit 2 is designed to be very hackable.

As for 16F87/88, it is supported by the PICkit 2 firmware and host software
with one exception : the second config word at 0x2008 is not supported yet
by the host software. It should be supported by the next version of host
software.
